Do you suffer from Insomnia?
There are many factors that can cause Insomnia. By keeping our endocrine system and nervous system
functioning properly we can stop the wakeful hours, the tossing and turning that can hinder a person
from losing sleep and waking feeling unrested. Many times, my patients are experiencing an excess of
high or low estrogen, low progesterone, hypothyroidism, high and or low testosterone as the culprit and
they are not even aware of it. You may not know this, but stressors also play a huge role on our sleep
especially grief, shock, and anger!
Melatonin is the hormone released by the pineal glad which regulates our 24 hour body clock. It
influences our endocrine system, nervous and immune system. Melatonin production can only be
produced when its dark, it’s peak hours of production is 1-3 a.m. When we wake and start scrolling on
our phones, look at a bright screen or read even with small amounts of light this can disrupt the
production of melatonin which will prevent our bodies to naturally cool-down and inhibit proper growth
of muscle, repair, and complete recuperation of the body.
These are also the hours our liver detox’s. If you find you are waking between the hours of 1-3 a.m. and
having a hard time falling back to sleep, this will imply the liver is toxic and needs support. When our
sleep is disturbed and we remain awake for hours, our body in return is unable to produce Growth
Hormone.
